Bernie, TheValleyDom, surrendered to his Inner Dominant and Sadist while in the process of doing The Twelve Steps in 1998. He made his first forays into the BDSM scene in 2000. He began attending the Lair de Sade in 2001, starting his journey of discovery and growth.

He quickly became known in the So.Cal BDSM scene through his involvement in public SM play, attending and participating in lectures, discussions, demos and seminars, both in person and via several online forums and communities.
The Valley Dom is "out" to most people in his life. He has been an advocate of the BDSM way of life and loud defender of the Heterosexual Male Dominant, both in and out of the BDSM community. 

The Valley Dom joined the Conquest Society at its inception. He was honored with an invitation to be a member of The Society of Monarchs in 2003, and has remained a Member in good standing since he received His Monarch Ring.

He has been deeply involved in “The Men's Movement”. He promotes the concept of the Authentic Male. He has been intimately involved in the planning, organizing and running of several Men's Retreat weekends and workshops. 

The Valley Dom is generally acknowledged as a heavy hitting player, focusing mostly on impact and sensation scenes, though he is a multi-faceted player, and continues to hone his skills in all areas of the craft

What interests TheValleyDom most are the deeper realms of D/s and BDSM. The love, the lifestyle, the transformation of boundaries, the emotional growth, and the spiritual experience of D/s and BDSM (And of course, the hot nasty perverted kinky sex.)
